BDV law firm is a new member of RESC

BDV is the first law firm to recognise the importance of cooperation with all stakeholders of the RES industry sector in Croatia and has recently become our new member. Established in 2017 for more than a decade, BDV has participated in legal consulting of clients from numerous industries, including those from the energy sector.

Over the past five years, the firm has been mandated clients, both in the private and governmental sectors.

They work on the Croatian and the market of Southeast Europe, and advise both domestic and international clients in their regular business operations and provide legal aid to international law firms.
The mission of the BDV law firm is to contribute to raising the quality of the legal system in the Republic of Croatia to the quality level of Western European and Central European countries by providing the best possible service.

Laurenz W. Vuchetich, one of the partners in the BDV law firm, stresses how important the cooperation of all Green Transition stakeholders in Croatia is to achieve the common goal of energy independence with renewable energy sources. These are also the objectives of the European Union and the RESC Association.

Our team feels strongly committed to joining RESC in a time where the demand-side structure for renewables is rapidly changing in Croatia. Announcements of corporates including oil companies to hitting carbon neutrality goals will require new approaches to structuring relationships between producers, offtakers, and regulators. Having been actively involved in recent RES projects, we believe to be able to contribute to OIEH by sharing our experience and helping to shape new and amended legislative and regulatory arrangements. We look forward to fruitful cooperation with all OIEH members.”

BDV areas od expertise

As legal advisors, the BDV team offers a variety of corporate law-related services, in particular focusing on transactional and regulatory work for corporate and governmental clients, with extensive experience in M&A, and banking & finance, and real estate transactions.

In regulatory matters, BDV has been involved in various tax law work and energy regulation–related issues. The team covers only industries in which team members have developed sufficient expertise and these include energy, infrastructure, technology, retail, leisure, and private equity sectors.

BDV law firm and the energy industry

Over the years, BDV’s attorneys have been regularly advising investors, lenders, and selected sponsors on a wide variety of transactional and regulatory matters related to the energy sector. The firm takes pride in a consistent track record of transactions being mandated by both private sector and governmental clients in the energy sector.

The team advice is sought after in transaction-related and regulatory matters covering most of the categories of the energy market (generation, transmission, distribution, supply, and trading). In respect of the energy industry, for all aspects – whether conventional or renewable energies, joint ventures, restructuring, or financing of projects – BDV’s attorneys have a good understanding of the regulatory framework and processes involved, combining their know-how with our expertise in corporate, tax, financing, and dispute resolution.

RESC is undoubtedly the most prominent professional association in the Croatian energy sector. As such, the Association represents a focal meeting spot for all stakeholders, thereby allowing a productive exchange of experiences and the creation of proposals aimed at improving the regulatory framework within the energy sector. We are convinced that our membership in this esteemed Association will help us in our daily activities regarding the advising of our clients, and at the same time we are looking forward to contributing to the work of the Association with our extensive experience and our steadfast commitment.” – says Tomislav Sadrić, layer at BDV
