The economic-interest association The Renewable Energy Sources of Croatia (RES Croatia) gathers producers of electric power from renewable sources. In the last 15 years investments in renewable energy sources in Croatia were almost exclusively implemented by the private sector.

TRANSPERENCY IN RENEWABLE SOURCES

The primary goal of the Association of Renewable Energy Sources of Croatia is to encourage a general social agreement that the future of Croatia is in renewable energy sources, that Croatia must not repeat the errors it made in other economic sectors: suppress production from domestic sources. We are advocating the transparent presentation of the role and impact of all renewable energy sources on citizens and the industry.

On our website we will post the activities we engage in, as well as present other news from the field of renewable energy sources. Our aim is to inform, educate and actively participate in the creation of processes relevant for the further development of the renewable sources sector.

INNOVATIVE BUSINESS MODELS IN THE ENERGY INDUSTRY

The Association advocates  new business models in the energy industry  which have a huge potential for the introduction of innovations. We wish to advance the synergy between industry and energy, entrepreneurs and citizens and energy entrepreneurship through public-private models of financing, including the development of energy entrepreneurship zones. We will likewise advocate for the introduction of models that would offer, through direct contracting between the industry and entrepreneurship, lower prices of electric power.

CITIZENS AND RENEWABLE ENERGY SOURCES

Renewable energy sources projects offer the possibility of more qualitative financial partnerships  and regional development through  investments of citizens and entrepreneurs in projects  by way of group financing. Through concrete initiatives and activities we wish to become a qualitative and constructive partner of the executive authorities. We strongly uphold the introduction of a system of electric power  production at the sites of consumption.  We particularly uphold the  decentralized development of small solar power plants in family homes, tourist facilities and production plants.

THE STRATEGY OF ENERGY DEVELOPMENT OF CROATIA

Croatia must revert to the integral use of renewable energy sources at its disposal, wisely manage its own resources and domestic production and decisively thread through the energy transition. It is, as a matter of fact, precisely Europe’s vision: reliable, sustainable and accessible energy. The road that leads to it is in the joint functioning of policy, the industry, scientific community, entrepreneurs and citizens. The road to Croatian energy is through the creation of synergy.

The wood processing industry must be stimulated to utilize all its unused  biomass  in meeting energy needs by the production of wood pellets for heating or directly for the production of electric and heating energy in plants characterized by highly effective co-generation.  Bio-gas plants  should be integrated into the general strategy of agricultural production development. They should contribute to the decrease and management of biological waste from the food industry and agricultural waste. This applies  in particular to the processing of manure as waste in livestock farming.

Croatia’s geothermal potential is undoubtedly quite prominent and it has to return on the map of turbine producers and position itself in Europe by its domestic resources and technologies.

We must promote the further development  of wind farms and solar power plants, as well as associated industries for which we are equipped with both human resources and know-how, which can in a short period of time and with decreasing costs replace the large quantity of fossil fuels and obsolete thermal power plants. The future of Croatia is without alternative directed towards renewable energy sources.

A PLATFORM FOR GOOD ENERGY

The Platform for Good Energy is an informal advocacy and cooperative platform which gathers representatives from the civil sector, academic community and business associations. The goal is  to promote and  implement public policies from the renewable energy sources field. Our Association is one of the initiators of the Platform.
