E.ON Croatia is a new member of RESC

The company E.ON Croatia began operating on the Croatian market in 2020 as a holding company of the E.ON Croatia group, which is part of the powerful pan-European group E.ON is headquartered in Essen, Germany. In Europe, the group has business operations in 15 various markets, employs more than 72.000 experts, and supplies more than 61 million buyers in two main business sectors: energy grids and user solutions. The E.ON Group is one of the largest European operators of electric power energy grids and energy infrastructure and providers of innovative user solutions. Owing to that, E.ON is in a better position than any other energy company in Europe for marshaling the green energy transition and having a leading role in the forthcoming world of distributed green energy.

The strength of the company lies in its combination of business operations which include energy grids as well as useful solutions. On the Croatian market E.ON participates in the energy value chain through the supply of electric power and gas, as well as through the distribution of gas and purification of wastewater. In addition, it is the leading company on the market in the field of projecting and developing solar plans for business buyers and households.

The strength and expertise of E.ON in the Croatian market lie in providing end-to-end services, from analyzing the needs of its buyers, through adjusted offers, to implementation, monitoring, and expert counseling. It has positioned itself as a viable energy partner which can hold ground with current and future energy complexities, provide necessary solutions and provide support for a prolonged period. E.ON Croatia offers products and solutions through which it acts as an energy partner to buyers from the business community, households including communities for the promotion of green energy transition and lowering of CO2 emissions. The company supplies exactly what its buyers need, meaning infrastructural solutions for more independent and more sustainable energy supply.

With solar solutions and projects, it has taken on a leading market position in the Croatian market with significant space for expansion and development. The basic model of the company is focused on photo-voltage solutions for consumers, namely, buyers who use the energy produced by the photo-voltage system in situ. Along with that, it is developing, building, and managing larger photo-voltage on-shore parks. Apart from photo-voltage systems, the company is also offering its buyers some energy solutions. E.ON has the expertise and experience regarding various energy solutions, such as co-generation, biomass, low-temperature energy systems, cooling and heating, and heat pumps as well as additional services and management of energy in general.

De-carbonization, energy transition, and infrastructure expansion have to be stepped up considerably. For the company E.ON Croatia represents a great potential for powerful growth in the years to come. Croatia is on the right track toward the basic goal and vision – to become a first-choice partner for the energy transition in the region.

Andreas Rörig, CEO of E.ON Croatia pointed out that joining the RESC Association demonstrates the company’s dedication to environmental protection and the promotion of sustainable development.

“As a European energy leader with longstanding experience in renewable sources and a bellwether of the green energy transition, we are aware of the importance of developing renewable energy sources for the sustainable future of our planet. We at E.ON are convinced that energy from renewable sources must be used to a much greater degree to decrease our dependence on fossil fuels and to preserve our planet for future generations. We have recognized in Croatia a significant potential for the production of renewable energy, particularly from the sun and we wish to be active participants in the promotion of the development and use of solar solutions in Croatia. By joining the Association of Renewable Energy Sources of Croatia we are in a position to participate in various initiatives and projects that will contribute to the development of renewable energy sources in Croatia. In addition, we will be part of the joint efforts directed at improving the regulatory framework and creating incentive conditions for the further development of renewable energy sources. Our decision on joining the Association of Renewable Energy Sources of Croatia is not only a business decision but the reflection of our socially responsible business activities and our commitment to sustainable development. As a company that has a long-term interest in Croatia, we are ready to invest in the development of renewable energy sources and cooperate with other stakeholders in the achievement of joint goals”.

Maja Pokrovac, the RESC Managing director underscored that E.ON Croatia and RESC have similar goals and share a commitment to the achievement of those objectives.

E.ON Croatia always emphasizes that Croatia has the greatest potential to reach the very top among the EU member states in the use of renewable energy sources and is systematically aiding the achievement of that goal, For example, only in the last few years it developed almost 50 MW of installed photo-voltage capacities and constructed the currently two largest systems in Croatia of which each with the capacity of almost 10 MW. Its expertise, knowledge of the market, experience, and desire to increase the number of investments in renewable sources is an incentives for everyone in the sector. RESC is engaged in the very same goals. When the Association began with its activities in Croatia the value of domestic production of electric power was not recognized, but its persistence and expertise through the systematic activities of our working groups brought about great changes. Today, everyone is talking about energy independence, and RESC, as always, is a step ahead. Through the activities of our nine working groups, we analyze the obstacles and propose solutions for the more expansive development of RES. We are the only ones in Croatia to analyze the possibility of developing “Go-to” areas and separate locations for the faster development of RES projects. We are working on two new studies in cooperation with EBRD which will show the potential of developing renewable energy sources on the sea in Croatia We are also preparing the project Solar Jobs that will provide training for jobs in the solar sector. We have recently become the national hub of the RE-Source Platform and were the first in the region to organize a conference devoted to the development of PPA agreements to which E.ON Croatia presented its solutions too. We are honored that it has recognized the value of becoming a RESC member and are looking forward to our joint activities through our working groups. The experience and knowledge E.ON Croatia has will certainly give a significant contribution to the more expansive development of the RES sector and thereby also to the achievement of energy self-sufficiency.

E.ON Croatia, welcoma to RESC!
