The Second Regional RE-Source Croatia Hub Conference is approaching

Does your industry, company, or city need green energy? The solution is to find a renewable energy source producer and arrange a direct purchase of electricity by signing a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA).

PPA agreements involve the long-term purchase of green energy at a pre-agreed price. For example, it could be arranged to purchase electricity from a wind farm in Dalmatia by a food chain in Slavonia.

Learn how to sign it, what the advantages of such a contract are, and what potential challenges you might face at the Second Regional RE-Source Croatia Hub Conference 2024 dedicated to the development of PPA agreements.

The conference will take place on March 15th at the Sheraton Hotel in Zagreb.

For the first time, the conference will offer the opportunity for B2B meetings between renewable energy producers and energy-intensive industries.

The registration fee for the conference is 350€ (VAT included in the price).

OIEH members have a 20% discount on the registration fee with a special code.

Registrations are available at the following link: Registration for the II Regional RE-Source Croatia HUB Conference 2024.

Note: At least 5 days before the conference, you will receive an email with instructions for downloading the mobile application, through which participant registration is conducted, B2B meetings within the conference are arranged, and other important information is provided.

This year’s conference partners are the leading European organizations for wind energy – Wind Europe, and solar energy – SolarPower Europe, and the European RE-Source Platform, of which OIEH is the hub holder for Croatia and the region.

The conference will be opened by the Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, Damir Habijan, along with Annie Scanlan, Director of Policy and Impact of the European RE-Source platform. A keynote presentation on what the new reform of the electricity market in Europe will bring will be presented by Dries Acke, Policy Director of the leading European organization for solar energy, SolarPower Europe. The first panel on the regulatory framework for purchasing electricity will gather key stakeholders from domestic and international energy sectors. Participation in the discussion on the new Rules for organizing the wholesale electricity market has been confirmed by Luka Pehar, Director of the Electricity Market Sector and eco-balance group at HROTE, regional manager of Danske Commodities, Branimir Beljan, Vladimir Milanović, director of Masdar Taaleri Generation, and lawyer Ivona Zagajski from the law firm Marohnić, Tomić & Gjoić. An introduction to the second-panel discussion will be given by a presentation on different PPA agreement models by Guy Brindley, Market Development Lead at WindEurope. Why sign a PPA and what are the key elements of negotiation to consider will be the topic of the second panel on different perspectives on purchasing renewable energy, led by Zoran Miliša, CEO of ENNA Supply, director of ENCRO Tomislav Ćurković, executive director of E.ON Energy Vladimir Sabo, director and business consulting lead for CEE at PwC Croatia Mislav Slade-Šilović, director of KOER Marko Lasić, and Ladislav Tolmaci, Executive Director at Erste Group. The final panel will discuss the role of the guarantee of origin within the decarbonization strategy and how this system works. More details will be provided by Szyman Kowalski, Vice President of Re-Source Hub Poland, Nikolay Pavlov from RE-Source SEE Hub, Vuk Kopanja from ACT Commodities Group, Boris Dokmanović, Director of the OIE Sector and implementation of incentive measures at HROTE, and Ante Mikulić, director of CROPEX.

In 2023, PPA agreements saw a 40% increase compared to the previous year, with 10.4 GW of new renewable energy capacity achieved, indicating a growing demand for renewable sources of energy among European companies.

The sectors of the largest corporate buyers of renewable energy in Europe in 2023 were led by heavy industry, followed by ICT, retail, telecommunications, and engineering and technology.

Spain and Germany continue to lead, together accounting for approximately 50% of all signed PPA agreements in 2023.

Following Croatia, Bulgaria, Austria, and Romania entering the PPA market in 2022, last year saw the addition of Hungary, Slovenia, and Portugal.

We look forward to your attendance!
