From 20 to 22 May 2026, Opatija will spend three days in the rhythm of energy. A city of European encounters and a renowned tourism and congress destination, it will host Dani OIE 2026 (RES Days 2026), the largest national conference dedicated to renewable energy.

At a time when Europe is increasingly seeking stable and domestic energy sources, the discussion on energy is no longer just about technology or climate goals. It is becoming closely linked to security of supply, economic competitiveness, and affordable energy prices for households and businesses.

Dani OIE 2025 in Split brought together more than 400 participants from 19 countries, representing 115 companies and 30 institutions. An even broader international response and stronger interest from both the professional and business community are expected in Opatija.

Dani OIE 2026 are conceived as a meeting point for ideas, experience and investment – a place where the conversation on energy is open, practical and focused on what lies ahead for Croatia and Europe in the years to come.

Conference Agenda

Energy Independence as a Defense Strategy

How to ensure a continuous electricity supply for hospitals, military bases, and critical infrastructure under crisis conditions? Renewable energy sources and battery systems are increasingly being integrated into defense systems, while experiences from Ukraine and the protection of energy infrastructure demonstrate the extent to which local energy production and storage have become a matter of security.

Energy as the New Currency of Tourism

Tourism is entering a phase in which energy is becoming a competitive advantage rather than just a cost. As a leading car-accessed destination, Croatia requires a reliable energy infrastructure – not only for tourism, but also for its citizens. The discussion will explore how to accelerate the use of renewable energy sources and ensure a secure energy supply in both tourism and transport.

Flexible Agreements for the Development of RES Projects

Grid constraints are increasingly shaping the pace of project development, with flexible agreements becoming one of the key solutions. The panel will explore what such a model means for investors, banks, and regulators, as well as the conditions required for projects to remain financially viable.

Security of Food and Energy Supply

Food and energy security is becoming increasingly important in the context of unstable markets and rising prices. Rural areas have the potential to integrate production of food, green energy, and fuel, thereby reducing dependence on imported fertilizers whose production is linked to natural gas. Can a feasible and financially viable model be developed for real-world conditions?

Who Will Power the Digital World

The growth of artificial intelligence and data centers is causing a rapid increase in electricity consumption and raising the question of long-term sustainability of energy supply. Renewable energy and battery systems are positioning themselves as a natural solution, while energy availability is becoming a key factor in determining the location of future data centers.

Repowering RES – More Energy from Existing Infrastructure

Existing power plants can generate more energy without requiring additional space. Repowering raises the question of how to accelerate the modernization of facilities while ensuring clear rules for spatial planning, environmental protection, and asset management throughout their entire lifecycle.

Distribution Network – Challenges for Further RES Development

The distribution network is increasingly struggling to keep pace with renewable energy development, with regional disparities becoming more and more visible. Targeted infrastructure development, battery systems, and electromobility are emerging as key solutions for a more balanced expansion of renewable energy capacity.

Active Consumers and Smart Energy Management

Consumers are no longer just users – they are actively managing their own energy production and consumption. Digital platforms, home battery systems, and new service models are changing our approach to energy and opening up opportunities for a more flexible and efficient energy system.

And more…

The programme also covers additional topics: the economy and renewable energy, PPAs for local communities, financing renewable energy projects and battery energy storage, along with numerous networking opportunities.
