More than two hundred companies, associations, and non-governmental organizations, including the Renewable Energy Sources of Croatia (OIEH), have signed a joint statement addressed to EU leaders, calling for the European Green Deal to be reaffirmed as a strategic priority in the next term of the European Parliament.

In recent months, we have witnessed pressure on the agenda of the European Green Deal. The draft conclusions of the Council, adopted in April by the heads of state on the next EU strategic program, mention the European Green Deal only once. This confirms that the green transition has slipped to the bottom of European priorities. With this statement, we want to show political leaders that there is broad support from all societal actors in favor of the Green Deal, which is crucial for the energy transition and Europe’s competitiveness.

The final list will be published in the week following the EU Parliament elections and before the important European summit on June 27, where heads of state will establish their political priorities for the next EU mandate.

“The Green Deal has set the EU on a path of sustainable growth and has proven robust and convincing in challenging times. According to the International Energy Agency (IEA), electricity consumers in the EU saved 100 billion euros between 2021 and 2023 thanks to the accelerated development of renewable energy sources and electrification. Global clean technology supply chains are estimated to be worth over 600 billion euros by 2030. The European Green Deal is the best strategy to ensure Europe’s prosperity and competitiveness, providing much-needed coherence and regulatory stability for European businesses and citizens,” the statement reads.
