This exceptionally important event devoted to clean energy in Europe and focusing on the use of wind energy brought together key European institutions and economies. You not only provide for the availability of energy but also bring numerous possibilities to business operations, technology and employment\u201d,<\/em> he pointed out.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He also reflected on the exceptional opportunities of energy transition he is quite aware of. <em>\u201cSpain perhaps has the greatest potential for renewable energy sources in the European Union. With more than 50 million hectares, Mediterranean and Atlantic winds, high sunshine levels, large forest surfaces and significant hydrological resources. Finally the robust network of companies and technology centers, innovations and know-how outline Spain\u2019s story as the center of renewable energy sources\u201d,<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Spain has recognized the implementation of the energy transition as an exceptional economic opportunity. The wind sector is Spain\u2019s industrial driver. Wind energy provides for 22.500 jobs and considerable levels of export.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Spain, the Basque Country and Bilbao have brought a well thought out decision on supporting wind energy and are now bringing about the advantages in regard to jobs and investments. Spain intends to acquire 42% of its energy from renewable sources by the year 2030 and wind will play a central role in the implementation of this goal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><em>Introductory presentation by Minister \u010cori\u0107<\/em><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>The Minister of Environmental Protection and Energy, <strong>Tomislav \u0106ori\u0107, <\/strong>&nbsp;gave an introductory speech at the opening of the Wind Europe 2019 Conference &amp; Exhibition as the first Croatian minister participating at this most important conference devoted to wind energy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He pointed out that the Republic of Croatia, out of security reasons, has to turn to the diversification of supply options of all energy sources and to promote in the production of electricity the use of its own resources, before all of the renewable energy sources.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"data:image\/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAAAAACH5BAEKAAEALAAAAAABAAEAAAICTAEAOw==\" data-orig-src=\"http:\/\/localhost:10003\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/ministar-\u0106ori\u0107-uvodni-govor-1024x498.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"lazyload wp-image-4229\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><em><em>\u201cAlthough we have achieved quite a few things, many challenges are still ahead of us. We expect more energy from renewable sources than in the last ten years. The goal is to have three times more wind and twenty times more solar energy in the next ten years. With wind and other forms of renewable energy, we will reach 32 percent of our overall energy needs by the year 2030 and at least 56 percent by 2050.&nbsp; In addition, the transition to renewable sources will reduce harmful emissions. We believe greater investments in green energy in the future will also impact the development of the country as well as create new jobs and bring about industrial growth\u201d, Minister \u0106ori\u0107 concluded.<\/em><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">South East Europe in focus<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>At its first participation at the Wind Europe Conference, the Association Renewable Energy Sources of Croatia (OIEH) organized two panels entitled Southeast Europe in Focus which included the topics:<em> \u2018System Integration of Wind Energy in southeast Europe\u2019 <\/em>&nbsp;and <em>Projects of Common Interest in southeast Europe\u2019. <\/em>Croatian experts and businessmen, together with representatives of European institutions and international corporations participated in the panels including the Minister of Environmental Protection and Energy of the Republic of Croatia, Tomislav \u0106ori\u0107.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The discussion on the integration of wind energy in South East Europe was moderated by Prof. Dr. Sc, <strong>Neven Dui\u0107 <\/strong>(FSB), while the participants included<strong> Tomislav Plav\u0161i\u0107<\/strong> (HOPS), <strong>Obrad \u0160krba <\/strong>(NOS BH),<strong> Viktor Gabrev<\/strong>, (Siemens Gamesa), <strong>Marta Mendoza Villamayor<\/strong> (ENTSO-E) and <strong>Aljo\u0161a Plei\u0107<\/strong> (Acciona Energija, Croatia)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The discussion focused on the challenges and integration of RES in the next five years, the development of a future distribution system which should include other stakeholders as well, the intra-day market and trading with neighboring countries as well as corporate purchase contracts of renewable energy in Southeast Europe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"316\" src=\"http:\/\/localhost:10003\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/panel-duic-1024x316.jpeg\" data-orig-src=\"http:\/\/localhost:10003\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/panel-duic-1024x316.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"lazyload wp-image-4227\" srcset=\"data:image\/svg+xml,%3Csvg%20xmlns%3D%27http%3A%2F%2Fwww.w3.org%2F2000%2Fsvg%27%20width%3D%271024%27%20height%3D%27316%27%20viewBox%3D%270%200%201024%20316%27%3E%3Crect%20width%3D%271024%27%20height%3D%27316%27%20fill-opacity%3D%220%22%2F%3E%3C%2Fsvg%3E\" data-srcset=\"https:\/\/oie.hr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/panel-duic-200x62.jpeg 200w, https:\/\/oie.hr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/panel-duic-300x93.jpeg 300w, https:\/\/oie.hr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/panel-duic-400x123.jpeg 400w, https:\/\/oie.hr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/panel-duic-600x185.jpeg 600w, https:\/\/oie.hr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/panel-duic-768x237.jpeg 768w, https:\/\/oie.hr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/panel-duic-800x247.jpeg 800w, https:\/\/oie.hr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/panel-duic-1024x316.jpeg 1024w, https:\/\/oie.hr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/panel-duic-1200x370.jpeg 1200w, https:\/\/oie.hr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/panel-duic.jpeg 1440w\" data-sizes=\"auto\" data-orig-sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The panel discussion on projects of common interest was moderated by <strong>Maja Pokrovac, <\/strong>director of OEIH with the participation of dr. sc. Tomislav \u0106ori\u0107, minister of environmental protection and energy of the Republic of Croatia, <strong>Geogios Gkiaouris<\/strong>, (EBRD), <strong>Pierre Tardieu<\/strong> (Wind Europe, <strong>Marko \u0106osi\u0107 <\/strong>(HEP), <strong>Mladen Perkov <\/strong>(Klaster inteligentna energija) and<strong> Karsten Br\u00fcggermann <\/strong>(Nordex).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It was an opportunity for gaining insight into the various experiences in the development of wind energy projects in southeast Europe, the cooperation of different countries in such projects, for discussions on industries that opt for the increased use of wind energy in southeast Europe as well as on financing large wind projects in the region.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"data:image\/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAAAAACH5BAEKAAEALAAAAAABAAEAAAICTAEAOw==\" data-orig-src=\"http:\/\/localhost:10003\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/panel-Projekti-od-dru\u0161tvenog-interesa-u-SEE-1024x498.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"lazyload wp-image-4217\"\/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>The EU plans to allocate 1.3 billion EUR for financing trans-boundary cooperation in RES infrastructure projects in the period 2021-2027. &nbsp;&nbsp;The projects that can apply for funds include off and on-shore wind farms, solar energy, sustainable biomass, sea energy, geothermal energy and their combinations as well as connections to grids and storage of energy. This financial opportunity should certainly be taken advantage of.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>First joint presentation of Croatian companies at Wind Europe<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>At its first participation in the largest Wind Europe event, the association OIEH organized a joint presentation of Croatian companies as well as those which are active in the Republic of Croatia through their subsidiaries.
